It’s the tag I use most frequently on flickr; we have lived here for three years now, and it’s been such a breath of fresh air. Dan and I used to drive to Kennebunkport just to take a lap by the beach, or ride into town and ogle the stately old houses and the gigantic new houses. Sometimes, we’d drive by the Bush compound. Every time we drove through, I’d always say ‘it would be so nice to live here’.
And it came to be that it happened. In part, out of a need for Lenore to go to a good school, and in part by happenstance, I suppose. In any event, it has been just right. Our home is cozy, we live across the street from one of Lenore’s best friends, and any time you walk out the door you can either hear or smell the ocean. The fog always rolls in after a warm sunny day, our next door neighbors are seven sheep, and it’s only a two mile walk into Dock Square, if you want to check out the shops, people watch, or grab a hot fudge sundae. (Lenore and I prefer the ice cream).
Every day, I am happy and thankful that we are in our place. It would be more perfect if we happened upon a home we could afford to buy, but that will only happen by some superior lottery skills, or a ‘rich uncle’, as it were. For the time being, I take in all of it, stopping to snap pics here and there.
This shot was taken on Lenore’s last day of school; we walked from our house into Dock Square. Our original agenda was to hit up Ben and Jerry’s, but they were closed (!! the nerve! in June?!), so we went to this place called Old Salt’s. We didn’t miss out on anything by having gone there; the ice cream was just as cold and yummy, and we got to take some nice pictures along the way.
This is one of very few ’summer’ shots I have taken, since the weather has really been less than spectacular. I’m hoping for more sunshine soon, as my camera feels abandoned, and I’d like to walk outside without getting soaked. :/
